Hello all, I know every business turns the Holiday Season into some sort of marketing campaign. We do not want to be one of copy cat companies who say Happy Holidays out of one side of their mouth, and give us your money out of the other.
The end of the year at Wiscomm really is a time of reflection and thanksgiving for what we have accomplished in a little over two years of being a legit entity.
For 2008 we have again met our goal of doubling our sales, with the added benefit in reaching the top tier of sales out of all Motorola Parts Resellers in the World! Sales Goals are only good if you provide top notch customer service, I know everyone says they provide great customer service but we really have a passion for it. Being small, we can respond to questions and provide solutions in minutes, not days. We are workaholics (as I joke, one of the many benefits of being a small business owners), we get the greatest kick when someone gets stunned they get a email back from one of us at 10:30pm on a Sunday night with pricing and availability. If you are not passionate about what you are doing, stop and go do something else. We absolutely love what we do!
Looking ahead to 2009, We honestly do not believe we will double our sales again, and quite frankly we are fine with that. Economic downturns force companies to work smarter and become more efficient on how they operate their business, that is exact what we are doing. We look at every aspect of our business to make sure we are getting the best value for our money, whether its who we buy our boxes from, what freight carrier we use for shipping or what financial institution gives us the best return on our money we use for working capital. In 2009 this will become increasingly important. We will also be exploiting technology as we work closely with Motorola to launch a new web site containing EVERY Motorola replacement part available, quite an undertaking when you are talking more then 250,000+ parts!
All this being said, one of the main reasons we started Wiscomm a few years back is give us the flexibility to better manage our time. Both Mark and Craig have small children who just started or will be starting school in the coming years, running our own show allows us to run out in the afternoon to catch that parent-teacher conference or school play. When it all boils down having that family involvement, that's whats important. We both have incredible wife's, who are actively involved in the business, known to chip and help unload a truck full of radios or sort through a garbage can full of batteries. Without the support of our entire family, a small business will never survive.
A special thanks to our accountant, attorneys, bankers & insurance agent (oh yes, I said there are many untold headaches of being even the smallest of small businesses). We have a great group of companies we work with, they are all straight shooters who share our no nonsense business ideals.
To our great group of vendors, the crew from Motorola, our broker partners, we appreciate you being part of the Wiscomm team.
And to the corny part, our customers. Our competition jokes when we sell a new customer a part for $4, then the joke is on them when they come back to Wiscomm and give us a $30,000 battery order. All of our customers are important, you take care of that customer who need that $4 knob, maybe they work for a company that needs a 100 radios or a ambulance company that needs batteries. You just never know where your next customer comes from. Take care of all of them. Don't get me wrong, we get our fair share of knuckleheads who contact us asking to buy 50 radios with a credit card and ship them to Nigeria. Thankfully this is not our first rodeo and both of our cynical sides can usually sniff out the scam. But to all those customers who just want to work with a fair, honest no B.S. company, we look forward to working with you.
Anyway, thanks again to everyone. We look forward to a great 2009. Please let us know there is ever anything we can do for you.
Sincerly,
Mark Toole & Craig Ochs
and our many supporting elves....
