Introducing the new Motorola CP185 Portable

Motorola has just released the newest commercial portable radio, the Motorola CP185. Available in UHF 435-480 Mhz (now) and VHF 136-174 Mhz (March 2009), these compact units offer 16 channels, an 8-character display, & built-in voice inversion scrambling. These units do NOT have any tone-signaling. The CP185 uses the same remote speaker mics as the CP200 / GP300 generation of radios. Radios ship with standard with a LiIon battery.

A day in the life at the Wiscomm HQ....

As I am sure many of our long term customers may already know, we run a pretty casual, friendly office here at Wiscomm. This includes the normal flexible hours, casual dress, kids & pets welcome policy seen you see at many of the up and coming businesses these days.

I wanted to take a moment to share a photo from this morning, while finishing a little billing this morning I was distracted by unbeliveable loud snoring, Only to find the youngest of the two office greyhounds full sacked out and snoring to beat the band. Motorola Service Confirms Support Cancellation for the Astro Saber Two-Way Radios

From Motorola:

The Motorola Repair Center would like to inform you that, effective immediately, the Astro Saber two-way radio is no longer supportable by the repair center.
Support for these radios was officially cancelled in December 2007, but the repair center was able to provide “best effort” repair support for these radio models. Unfortunately, these “best effort” repairs are no longer possible. Any Astro Saber sent to the depot will be Returned Unrepaired.
